Mrs. Malettor Cross after noticing a lack of summer recreation for Detroit's children decided to start a camping program. In June of 1986, a staff of 15 adults and 30 children ventured to northern Michigan to Good News Bible Camp
Now over 100 staff and youth continue to venture away from the city for our annual week long adventure of enjoying the beauty of God's nature through activities including devotions, a variety of classes (swimming, arts/crafts, fishing, archery, etc). Evenings conclude with worship around campfire and an inspirational message. Mrs. Cross' vision and love for children and the outdoors, hundreds of campers have been nurtured and blessed by this one week annual program.
The Detroit Afro-American Mission, which organizes the camp, partners with two other churches, Rosedale Park Baptist Church and St. Peters Holiness to help offset the cost of camp for parents. This is done by hosting several fundraisers throughout the year. Return here for information on how to support.
